Spotting Addiction in the Workplace

Spotting an addicted employee in the workplace can be difficult. Alcoholics and drug addicts go to great lengths to hide their addiction.

Usually, however, coworkers have no problem identifying a colleague who’s suffering from addiction.

Documenting specific patterns of behaviour associated with addiction is the best way to assist your employee in getting assessed and the help they need. Skilled managers don’t need to mention drugs and alcohol; instead they focus on motivating the employee to address the root cause of his or her performance issues.
