Angels for Recovery: Banding together to give
the gift of recovery

There is no better way to show gratitude for the life you have than by helping others reclaim theirs. Celebrate a recovery milestone, memorialize a loved one or pay tribute to an important life event by leading your own Angels for Recovery campaign.

By inviting friends and family to make tax-deductible donations, you can raise $1,200 — the amount needed to “sponsor” one person’s access to Renascent’s highly successful 21-day treatment program for alcoholism and drug addiction.

Many people are surprised to learn that while we gratefully receive support from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Renascent’s services are not covered by provincial health plans. Donors are the ones who ultimately safeguard access for the 1,000 men and women each year who need lifesaving care but can’t afford it.

For many years, we’ve offered people the opportunity to become Guardian Angels and give personal gifts in increments of $1,200 to take one, two, four or eight people under their wings. With new online fundraising tools, people can now easily band together as Angels for Recovery — helping us keep our promise of never turning anyone away due to lack of funds.

How it works:

1. We create a personal webpage for your campaign (call 416-847-6457) — or you can do it right now by clicking on the “Sign Up” button under “New Registrants” on the Angels for Recovery homepage. It takes about 10 minutes.
2. Set your fundraising goal by deciding how many people you’d like to take under your wing, e.g. $1,200 helps one person, $2,400 helps two people and so on.
3. You send emails to your friends, colleagues and family members, inviting them to contribute to your campaign; you can use the system’s email service or your own email account.
4. Friends donate online, mail in cheques or call in gifts. We issue tax receipts. We update you on any donations we receive by phone or mail so you can add them to your list of donors.
5. Your thermometer goes up with each gift. You reach your goal. We recognize you and your band of angels for this achievement.
