Struggling with relapse?
If you’re struggling with relapse it’s probably not for lack of trying to stay sober. It’s likely you need help to combat the threat of relapse.
In the absence of support, relapse can crush hope for a new beginning. However, with the right support, a relapse can be turned into a learning experience that creates a stronger foundation for long-term recovery.
But you cannot do it alone.
To get back on track, we recommend the following:
- Get Complete Care: Renascent Primary Care alone may not be enough so augment it with Renascent Continuing Care, Family Care and Alumni Care. If you’ve already completed Renascent Continuing Care but are still struggling, talk to a Renascent counsellor about extending your care by repeating Continuing Care. Call 1-866-232-1212.
- Go to 12-step meetings - you can get support from recovering alcoholics and drug addicts who, like you, are staying sober, one day at a time.
- Get a 12-step sponsor - someone with experience in sobriety and recovery who can coach you through those moments that could trigger relapse. Our outcome studies show Renascent alumni who regularly attend meetings and who work with a sponsor are twice as successful.
- Address the health issues identified in your medical assessment that could impact your recovery.
