Kids in alcoholic homes walk out that door, typically at the ages of 17, 18 and 19, believing that they have survived, patting themselves on the back, with a sigh of relief, with a lot of bravado about how well they have done “in spite of.” But I think that each and every child who’s raised in such a family pays an extremely high price.
